I looked at the serial number on Sony Vegas 4.0 and I confirmed that it is a serial number for Sony Creative Software. However, it is not the same serial number that the software shows you. The software says 534724 but the Sony Vegas shows 534724-534954 and many more.

I use Sony Vegas 4.0. Only thing I haven't tried yet is to see if I can remove Sony Vegas and it works again. I also tried SONY SVED in DVD-RIP to see if that works. The program also wants a serial number for this program also.

Hi. I have Sony Vegas 4.0 and I am having difficulty burning my MPEG files. I have verified the serial number is correct. It is an older computer and I use to burn with Sony WMP software but that has been erased from my system.

Not sure if it's an old forum post but I just wanted to let someone know that the version number for the new Vegas Pro now has the word MEDIA all over it as in MEDIA 5.1 and the edition number is 13. I used to see it when it was the old version number but now I see it all the time. I was using the free version and it was fine.

If you have, or have had, an MEP activation code, I have a genuine one that was given to me, as a Sony consumer, when MEP was first offered. I sold it because I never needed the codec and I just wanted the lens.

I do not think that Sony will be inclined to help you; the serial number is burned into the hardware and the software and is part of the hardware, so it is no longer an option. Perhaps the people at Sony can help you. You could also try the Sony Support website, where they usually have some form of assistance. In my case, the only thing that actually worked was the original serial number. I was able to get a replacement serial number for the MEP, which I plugged in, and then the software worked again.
