Pictures Hub: This is not only your photo gallery but also your portal to photo galleries stored on your Windows Live Skydrive and Facebook. You can upload photos taken by your Windows Phone to your Skydrive account, email them, or upload them to Facebook. For photos stored on your phone, you can directly access any photo enhancement apps such as HTC's Photo Enhancer or Flickr Manager directly from the Pictures Hub.
There isn't a consolidated inbox for email. Each account will have it's own inbox and can be pinned to the Start Screen. Along with your account information, email settings include; how you want your signature to appear, bcc yourself on outgoing email, how often you want the phone to download new content, how far back you want to keep email, and if the account has a calendar or contacts whether or not you wish to sync that content as well.
Ringtones and sounds allows you to set the ringtones not only for the phone but also new email, SMS messages, and voicemail. You do not have the option for vibrate or LED notification on these items. You have to choose an audible tone or none. Hopefully updates to the OS will include vibrate notifications for incoming messages. You can also turn on/off sounds for appointment reminders, key presses, screen locks, and "all other notifications".
This provides the ability to target devices with obsessive precision. Create an iPad-specific. Target devices with retina displays. While the effort that goes into adding targeted styles may often outweigh the benefits, sometimes it takes only a couple of lines of code to get an email newsletter looking edge-to-edge perfect on both your phone and favorite tablet.
While phone screen sizes have been steadily increasing over the years along with screen resolution, it can be tempting to include more and more images in your emails. But a word of caution: While images can bring an extra wow factor to your emails, images should always be thoughtfully added with accessibility and mobile load times top of mind.
Unfortunately, Windows devices do not have an option to back up voicemail. You can play them on speakerphone and record them using a laptop/PC microphone or you can use the Save instructions on this page if the message is less than 30-days old.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT EMAIL: Since not all Mobile phones support Multi-factor authentication, you will need to also download the Outlook App for your Mobile device to access your email on your mobile device after MFA is setup.Get the Outlook App
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently wrote in a leaked internal email about "tough choices in areas where things are not working," which could mean bad things on the horizon for the loss-making smartphone operation acquired from Nokia, especially when put together with the unexpected departure of ex-Nokia boss Stephen Elop.
If you just got a new Android phone, it likely has Gmail preinstalled. Gmail is a powerful email app with plenty of valuable tricks to manage your inbox. However, many excellent email apps on the Play Store might suit you better.
Spark is one of the most popular Mac apps thanks to its ease of use and advanced features. This app works with any email provider and supports several accounts. It also automatically categorizes emails so that you can focus on the ones that matter. Spark isn't compatible with Windows. So, if you want to use the Spark app anywhere other than your phone, you're out of luck unless you use a Mac or a Chromebook.
One big battery life offender could be email. In the past, email was a real drain, when your phone would have to check to see if you had new mail constantly throughout the day. Fortunately, most modern email clients push messages to your phone, meaning that your device must only expend power when you actually get a new message.
Of worrying note is that auto-configuration of new major email/PIM accounts doesn't now work. I've tested setting up a Google account to work with Outlook on a reset phone and changes at Google's end mean that the relevant password and set up screens don't get handled properly. Similarly for Yahoo, and possibly others.
Note that existing phones with previously setup accounts will carry on working fine - the caveat above is for adding accounts to a Windows 10 Mobile phone. Plus native Microsoft email/PIM accounts are fine.
